Introduction
SAFE is committed to protecting the privacy of its users and their family's data. SAFE is a fully transparent family monitoring tool that operates with the child's knowledge and the family's full consent, designed exclusively for legal guardians to monitor and protect their minor children. By using the SAFE app, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any provision herein, please discontinue use of the app immediately.
Data We Collect
We collect only the data necessary to provide our services, including: (1) Device GPS location of the child's device on a continuous basis to enable live tracking and geofence alerts. (2) App usage data and screen time statistics via the UsageStatsManager API. (3) Call history logs when this feature is explicitly enabled by the parent. (4) Camera, microphone, and screen stream only when manually and explicitly activated in real time by the parent — this stream is never stored on any server. (5) App crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics to improve stability and performance. (6) Basic device information (OS version, device model) for technical compatibility purposes. (7) The parent's account email address for authentication purposes only.
Purpose of Data Collection
All collected data is used exclusively for the following purposes: enabling live location tracking and sending geofence entry/exit alerts, managing screen time and blocking inappropriate applications, delivering instant SOS emergency alerts with the child's precise location, enabling live camera and screen streaming when requested by the parent, sending battery and speed alerts, and improving app performance and stability. We do not use your data for any commercial or advertising purposes whatsoever.
Storage, Security & Retention
Location and account data are stored on Supabase servers (a PostgreSQL-based platform securely hosted in the European Union) with full AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS encryption in transit. Crash reports are sent to Firebase Crashlytics (Google) solely for performance improvement purposes. Live camera and screen streaming sessions are transmitted directly via encrypted WebRTC peer-to-peer connections and are not stored on any server. The only exception is the Emergency SOS feature: when a child triggers an emergency alert, a short video clip (up to 3 minutes) is recorded and securely uploaded to our servers so the parent can review it. This clip remains stored until the parent manually deletes it, or until the account/child is deleted. We retain location data for a maximum of 30 days, after which it is automatically deleted. Parents can permanently delete all their data at any time from within the app settings.
Third-Party Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for commercial or advertising purposes. We use the following technical service providers to operate the app: Google Maps API for map display and route tracking, Firebase (Google) for push notifications and crash reporting, and Supabase for data storage and authentication management. All these providers operate under strict privacy policies and use your data only for the specified technical purposes. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of a child.
Your Rights
You have the right to: access all data stored in relation to your account, correct any inaccurate data, request permanent deletion of all your data from our servers (we will comply within 30 days), withdraw your consent to data collection at any time by deleting your account, and export a copy of your data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@safeaware.app, stating your registered email address and the nature of your request.
Consent, Transparency & Responsible Use
SAFE is a fully transparent family protection tool. The child must be informed of the app's installation on their device — this is both our policy and a mandatory condition of use. The user must be the legal guardian of the monitored minor child and must be at least 18 years of age. It is strictly prohibited to use SAFE to monitor adults without their explicit consent or for any unlawful purpose. The app is designed exclusively for parents to protect their minor children, and any use outside this scope constitutes a clear violation of these terms and may expose the user to legal liability.
Compliance with Policies and Laws
We comply with the Google Play Families Policy and children's data protection guidelines, the general principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where applicable, and all applicable local laws in the user's country. The SAFE app does not collect children's data directly — all data is collected and managed exclusively through the adult parent's account. The app contains no advertisements of any kind.
